Greek restaurant near Avignon: the story of Maison Panagiotis, from Avignon to Noves

If you are looking for a Greek restaurant around Avignon, chances are our name has already been whispered to you. Maison Panagiotis was born in Avignon in 2007, first on rue Carnot, then on rue des Teinturiers. For fourteen years, the people of Avignon discovered a Greek cuisine unlike any other: the cuisine of the great shared tables of 1970s Athens, passed down from the family grocery of Nea Filadelfia, in the northern suburbs of the Greek capital.

In 2021, we left the city centre to settle in Noves, fifteen minutes from Avignon, within the 12th-century ramparts of the old village, at the foot of the Alpilles. A place with character, a terrace set against centuries-old stone. The house lives on and thrives, carried by a team that shares the same standard: an authentic Greek cuisine, entirely homemade.

A gastronomic Greek table, not just another taverna

Here, the mezze are placed in the centre of the table and shared, as in Greece. The P.D.O. feta — the only one allowed to bear the name — is served with honey in filo pastry. The tomato sauces are made only with fresh tomatoes, the yogurt comes from Greece. The wine list is exclusively Greek: Assyrtiko from Santorini, Xinomavro from Naoussa, Agiorgitiko from Nemea. In summer, live music fills the air seven days a week, and the terraces set against the 12th-century ramparts become the beating heart of a Greek evening in Provence.

In the kitchen, Terence Panagiotis Paretzoglou, French-Greek, part of the MasterChef Greece 2018 selection, brings nearly twenty years of experience between Provence and Athens. The house also offers catering, a Greek fine-food grocery, cooking classes and private hire of the venue.

Our mezze are designed for two people. For each additional guest at your table, we offer a supplement of €33 (Vegetarian), €35 (Land) and €39 (Sea) to ensure a quality dining experience for everyone. Please note that each guest must pay their individual share.
